Workshop: Malware data analytics with Deep learning

Sunday December 23, 2018
Centre for Excellence in Computational Engineering and Networking (CEN),
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

Scope and topics of the workshop

The AISec (Artificial Intelligence for Cyber Security) group in the Computational Engineering and Networking (CEN) department at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is organizing a one-day workshop on 23th December, 2018. The workshop will cover Deep learning applications in the field of Cyber Security including NLP. The main aim of this workshop is to share the ideas of on-going research and exploratory topics, leading to possible collaborations between CEN faculty, Ph.D research scholars and students.

This is the era of data driven science. So to make sense of data is highly sought after skill in today's massively connected data driven world. Machine learning brought a breakthrough in achieving this. Deep learning which is a subset of traditional AI and Machine learning techniques is the cutting edge technology in the current scenario. These set of techniques provides a platform for advanced decision making for complex problems. However these techniques are still in the Faraday stage in the field of Cyber Security. In turn it's probably most helpful to think of deep learning as the cutting edge of cutting edge. As the size of data grows larger, deep learning play a key role in extracting knowledge, situational awareness, and security intelligence from Big Data. In order to take journey through deep learning to Big Data analytics, this workshop will help to initiate conversations.

By considering this workshop feeds the basics of data science (starting from classical machine learning to the advanced deep learning, natural language processing and image processing); feeds how to code the mathematics; feeds how to map classical machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing and image processing into Cyber security use cases.

About Malware data analytics with Deep learnning

A Malware Analyst is a highly specialized reverse-engineer, programmer and detective. They accomplish their task by using various tools and expert level knowledge to understand not only what a particular piece of malware can do but also how it does it. Becoming a Malware Analyst requires a large amount of focus and discipline as well as training and practice of the inner workings of computer systems, programming methodologies in multiple languages and a keen mind for solving puzzles and connecting the dots. You might consider becoming a Malware Analyst if you have a passion for computer security, enjoy solving puzzles and like the prospect of always learning new things. You might also enjoy it if you prefer a profession that always poses a challenge or if you look forward to working on new and interesting things. No day is ever the same as the previous, everyday is an opportunity to learn something new and fine-tune your skills. In addition to the personal satisfaction you would get from being a Malware Analyst, you would also become a samurai in the fight to make the cyber world a safer place.
